On 1st March – Dr Mikael Sodergren completed his first ever cross country skiing race – having never attempted cross-country skiing before this year.
Vasaloppet, however, isn’t just any ski race, it is the worlds biggest ski race! Mikael completed the 90km ski across central Sweden raising £1,451 for The Sapphire Medical Foundation.
Sapphire Medical Foundation’s mission is to reduce the financial barriers of access to medical cannabis. It was founded to aid in the financial difficulties that can affect individuals who are unable to afford the costs associated with medical cannabis prescriptions.
Mikael who completed the 90km race in 10 hours and 59 minutes said the following about his achievements: ‘It was truly a marathon event and I don’t think I’ll be rushing back onto the cross-country skis but I’m really happy to have raised such a significant amount which can hopefully be used to improve the lives of those struggling with conditions where medical cannabis may benefit, but is currently out of reach.’
